Music Studio Policies 2011-2012 |
|
These policies are posted for you to refer to as needed. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. Lessons begin Monday, August 15, 2011.
HOLIDAYS No classes will be held on the following holidays: Labor Day, September 5; Thanksgiving, November 21-25; Christmas, December 19-30; Spring Break, March 19-23. These are the only times that lessons are dismissed. Lessons will end May 10, 2011. Please mark these dates on your calendar or refer to this page often.
CLASS TIME Every student will have a private lesson of 30, 45, or 60 minutes each week, except the weeks of group lessons. Each student will attend the group lesson several times during the year in place of the private lesson for that week. Listed below are the dates for the group lessons. Mark your calendar now so that you can prepare for those each time.
GROUPS September 19-23 January 23-26 November 7-10 March 5-8 May 7-10 Missed lessons will not be made up unless the absence is due to the extended illness of the student or is cancelled by the teacher. Students are responsible for the same material at the next lesson. Classes will not be held if the roads are impassable from snow or ice. These classes will be made up at the earliest convenience. Computer lessons will be 20 to 30 minutes per week.
PAYMENT Fees may be paid at the beginning of each semester or monthly in advance at the following rates: LESSONS SEMESTER MONTHLY Private 60 minutes $450 $100 Private 45 minutes $337 $75 Private 30 minutes $225 $50 Lab rental 30 minutes $36 $ 8 All fees are due in advance on the fifteenth day of each month, August through April. Monthly statements will not be sent but music will be billed four times a year. There will be an additional one-time fee of $6.00 to cover the cost of the Piano Explorer and the Junior Music Club dues.
PRACTICE Practice is essential for progress. The following is the minimum requirement for practice. Levels I, II, III - 30 minutes daily You as a parent are responsible for seeing to it that practice is done each day and that it is done properly. If the child has had regular practice he will be prepared for the next lesson, he will feel more secure and in turn will enjoy his music much more. If the student does not maintain this minimum requirement, he will not advance. It is also the parent’s responsibility to check the assignment and sign it as proof of practice.
RECITALS An informal recital is given at one of the local nursing homes at Christmas. All students are urged to perform. The residents are a wonderful audience and your child gets experience in playing before people in a non-threatening environment, which helps the student when playing later in auditions or formal recitals. Please check in your child's assignment book for the date and time of recitals. At the end of the year a spring recital will be presented and opened to the public. This is an important event in the musical training of your child and all students are expected to perform. The recital is a semi-formal event so your child needs dress-up clothes for the performance. The recital will be held May 6, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Nashville.
