Cindy Petty is a life-long resident of Nashville, Arkansas. She graduated from Nashville High School and holds a degree in Music Education from Ouachita Baptist University where she studied piano with Dr. William Trantham and an MLA in art history from Henderson State University.

Music

Cindy is a member of Music Teachers National Association and holds a permanent professional certificate from that organization. She is also a member of the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association and is a past president of the state organization as well as having held several other offices. Cindy is also a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, the Arkansas Federation of Music Clubs, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She has served as judge for music club festivals and Guild auditions.

Cindy took her first piano student in high school and has taught many students since then. She has maintained a home studio since 1976. Cindy is also active in her church. She directed children's choir for 25 years and has been adult choir pianist since 1974.

Art

Cindy has had a life long interest in art. Her grandmother was an artist and Cindy would look at her grandmother's work and long to paint beautiful things like she did. Cindy studied with a local teacher during elementary school and dabbled with arts for many years. She began to study art in earnest in 1996 and began teaching decorative art in 2003. She is on the board of directors for the Elberta Art Center in Nashville and volunteers there regularly. Cindy is a member of the Society of Decorative Painters and the Four States Decorative Artists and holds an MLA in art history from Henderson State University.

Cindy paints in several mediums: acrylics, oils, heat-set oils, and watercolor. She also likes to draw in various mediums. She teaches students in all these mediums and also teaches various decorative art techniques. Cindy is well known locally and has drawn and/or painted many works for individuals and her church as well as murals for the local elementary school and for home owners.
